Where is your office?
I had two offices, one in Park Slope and one in Chelsea. But no longer.
Due to the pandemic, I see all my patients online and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.
Honestly, I think many of my patients appreciate the ease of not commuting to and from the office. If you have additional questions or want to ask about scheduling, please email me at kieran.grosman@gmail.com.
How do I set up an initial consultation?
In the words of Paul Simon, “There are 50 ways to leave a lover,” and three ways to set up an initial consultation with me. You can call/text me at (917) 687-8445, email me at kieran.grosman@gmail.com, or use the handy-dandy contact form below. It’s up to you, Jack!
What are your office hours?
I offer a variety of times to meet the needs of as many people who need my help as possible. My hours include Monday afternoon/evening, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, Thursday afternoons, and Saturdays.
As you can imagine, weekends and evening times are popular and aren’t always available.
Many of my patients can make sessions during the daytime with their work schedules, particularly for telehealth sessions. It’s often no big deal to disappear for an hour. Some people come to work an hour early or stay an hour later to make up for the time if their bosses agree.
People with flexible schedules let their bosses know that they can’t work Tuesday mornings and get scheduled for different times. Others use some of their paid leave each week, and I’m happy to give a work excuse if that would be helpful.
In my experience, being upfront with your supervisor about a weekly medical appointment decreases the potential drama. In most circumstances, your boss isn’t supposed to ask what kind of medical appointment, so if they ask, you can say that you’d rather not go into it at this time.

How long are your sessions?
How much do you charge?
I can’t answer that without knowing what services you are looking for. Please give me a call at (917) 687-8445 so that I can best answer this question.
How do I pay you?
Do you take insurance?
I do not participate with any insurance panels and am considered an out-of-network provider.
If you have out-of-network behavioral health benefits, I will provide you with a monthly invoice to submit to your insurer to get reimbursed. If you are unsure about your health plan’s claim procedure, I encourage you to contact your insurance company.
If you have additional questions or want to ask about scheduling, please email me at kieran_grosman@yahoo.com.
What is your cancellation policy?
Your appointment time has been reserved just for you. If you need to cancel, I ask that you let me know at least 72 hours before your session time.
If you miss your session or cancel with less than 72 hours’ notice, it’s up to you to cover your session’s entire fee. If you have any questions about this, please ask me.
If you have additional questions or want to ask about scheduling, please email me at kieran_grosman@yahoo.com.
How often do we meet?
Initially, we meet weekly. Once you have made significant progress toward your goals, we can discuss meeting less frequently. If you have additional questions or want to ask about scheduling, please email me at kieran.grosman@gmail.com.
With what age ranges do you work?
I work with individuals and couples/moresomes. Most of my clients are in their 20s and 30s, but a sizable minority are in their 40s and 50s.
Do you work with women, men, non-binary folks, and couples?
I see women and men at about a 2:1 ratio. I think that’s representative of people seeking therapy in general. I also work with some non-binary folks.
I also see couples and moresomes for relationship counseling.
What training do you have?
I received a doctorate in psychology from the Wright Institute in Berkeley, CA. I did my pre-doctoral and post-doctoral training at a private practice in Charlotte, NC.
My most extensive training since being licensed is in intensive therapy called Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP), which includes six years of post-doctoral course work and ongoing supervision.
However, no therapy is effective for everyone, so I also pull from my training using the Comprehensive Resource Model (CRM), which is helpful for patients where trauma is more at the forefront.
And I use the brilliant work of Ellyn Bader’s Developmental Model when I work with couples/moresomes.

What's your sign?
I’m a Gemini sun, Gemini moon, and Virgo rising. The Gemini sun part means that I like big feelings and emotions. The Gemini moon part means that I’m curious to a fault and generally well-informed. The Virgo part means that I’m detail-oriented (and sometimes perfectionist), care deeply about people, and want to do good in the world.
